Required Resources
When I write adventures, I assume that the reader has access to the basic resources available for running a campaign of D&D. This includes not only the core rulebooks and official suppliments, but also several 3rd party publications that I use for my game preparation. Here is a list of the abbreviations I use when referencing those resources:
PHB: Player’s Handbook
DMG: Dungeon Master’s Guide
MM: Monster Manual
VGtM: Volo’s Guide to Monsters
MToF: Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes
XGtE: Xanathar’s Guide to Everything
TCoE: Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything
EGtW: Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount
OT: Ordinary Towns by Legendary Pants Creative Design
Dungeons: Dungeons by Matt & Erin Davids www.dicegeeks.com
GBBM: Giant Book of Battle Mats by Loke Battle Mats
I highly recommend acquiring these resources if you choose to be a Dungeon Master, they will make the game more enjoyable for you by allowing you to use your creative energy only on the areas you want, while using 3rd party resources to fill in the parts of the story that you’re not excited about creating yourself. I also use Sky' Fourish’s “The Lazy Dungeon Master” and “Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master” as well as Keith Ammann’s “The Monsters Know What They’re Doing” when creating and running my adventures and campaings. I’ll be linking this post in the quick access bar on the site as well.
